Student Health and Wellness on the Health Sciences & Technology Campus
In response to student requests at the Riverside campus, effective Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, VTC Student Health primary care services are moving from the Carilion Clinic Family and Community Medicine practice on Colonial Avenue to Carilion Clinic Community Care located at 1229 Third Street SW in Roanoke.
This location is within walking distance (less than 1 mile) from the Riverside campus and is also on the Valley Metro Star Line trolley service (take the Jefferson and Walnut stop and walk approximately 3 blocks to the clinic). Carilion Guest Services will also continue to provide transportation to and from the new location for students. When you need to be seen at student health, call for an appointment at 540-512-5200. Once you have your appointment time, call guest services at 540-529-1220 and set up a time for pick up on the Riverside campus.
Appointments can be made throughout the day Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
In an effort to provide health care services to students on the Virginia Tech's Health Sciences and Technology Campus in Roanoke, Virginia Tech has contracted Carilion Clinic to provide health care services at the Carilion Clinic Family Medicine location on Colonial Avenue. Students may access care at both student health service centers.

Carilion Clinic Family Medicine
Carilion Clinic Family Medicine serves Virginia Tech Roanoke-based undergraduate, graduate, and medical students with convenient, high-quality primary care services, including X-ray, telehealth, laboratory, and MyChart, just a few miles from the HS&T campus. The Student Clinic is open weekdays, 2-4 p.m.
Virginia Tech Schiffert Health Center
With a clinical staff of doctors, nurse practitioners, and physician’s assistants, the center can administer care for a wide range of medical concerns. Services also include a travel clinic, women's clinic, nutrition clinic, and allergy and immunization clinic as well as a radiology department, laboratory, and pharmacy.

Virginia Tech's Cook Counseling Center supports students' emotional well-being, both in Blacksburg and at a branch for students in Roanoke at the Health Sciences and Technology campus. Individual and group services available.
After hours emergency consultations: Call 540-237-6557 and ask to speak to the on-call clinician.
Support for students with disabilities is available on the Roanoke campus by contacting Carrie Knopf, student affairs coordinator and disability support liason at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, who can assist students with requesting accommodations, informing faculty and staff, and making adjustments as needed, as well as assisting faculty and staff with implementing accomodations.
